Their Eyes Were Watching God, Chapter Nine.

Janie didn't really even seem to care about Joe's funeral. Alot of people attend, even from neighboring towns. She goes to the funeral like a good wife, but she hides all her true feelings. Like the way it should be, she doesn't feel any pain or loss from his death.

The first thing that Janie does afer Joe dies, is that she burns all the headrags that he made her wear. Other than that she doesn't really do anything. She keeps the store open with help from other people of the town. Now she can do anything she wants, talk to whom ever, sit on the poarch and join in conversation, whatever she would like.

Janie has a ton of things that she can do, but alls she wants to do in enjoy the freedom that she finally has.
