Pretty much everyone in town went to a baseball game when Mr. Vergible Woods, (a.k.a. Tea Cake) arrives at Janie's store. He was on his way to the baseball game too, but realized that he was in the wrong town. So he just stays to visit with Janie. Janie and Tea Cake click instantly. Hes a tall, happy young man and they end up playing checkers, and he teachers her how to play. He walked her home after that.
