Some of the people of the town get all angry when they see Jane come to the picnic with Tea Cake. I don't see why it would be a big deal, because Joe is dead. But whatever. They get even more ticked off when they find out that they are doing a bunch of stuff together, like hunt, fish, dance, go tot he movies, and all that jazz.
One night Pheoby and Sam sit and talk about the Janie and Tea Cake, and then Sam talks Pheoby into going to talk to Janie. Janie listens to Pheoby, but its kinda too late. Janie sits and explains that Tea Cake isn't after her money, and that she is going to end up with him, and yadda yaddda yah.
